FACES OF OU: Robert Sgariboldi

Robert Sgariboldi

Establishing a company from the ground up with global ambitions and backed by funds from the Emirate of Dubai is a once-in-a-lifetime career opportunity. When the offer came last year to create and manage the Czech branch of the multinational logistics company DP World Logistics, Robert Sgariboldi didn’t hesitate. The offices he chose for the branch, which met all of its needs, are in West Flexi Offices in Stodůlky.

“Consolidation and mergers are far more common in our line of work, and so establishing a company organically was a great professional challenge,” says the seasoned professional who has been working in logistics for over 20 years. His new employer, DP World, operates over 60 sea and land terminals in over 40 countries, through which roughly 10% of the world’s container traffic flows. About a decade ago the company began to expand its portfolio in order to be able to cover the entire global supply chain. Its acquisitions have also grown and it currently employs over 130,000 people worldwide.

“Our plans for further growth in new international transportation ways are truly ambitious. In the next 2 years, the company will open 200 branches all over the world,” states Sgariboldi, describing the strategy that will turn DP World into one of the major global transportation firms. “In Europe, we would like to expand primarily in terms of air and sea transport, while at the same time grow our existing transport networks and contract logistics services for key clients,” he adds.

One of the priorities for DP World since last fall has been Prague. “When I was selecting an office for the company, I mainly searched in Prague-West. Many logistics professionals live here, and so easy driving access to work and parking options was a major benefit in terms of attracting new employees. Also, the gym on the 2nd floor and the wide range of restaurants in the floor below us in the Patria West Offices administrative complex,” says Sgariboldi.

One of the key mottos of DP World Logistics’ Czech branch for 2025 is flexibility. “This year, we want to create a core team of about 20 colleagues. It’s not yet clear how many will be based in Prague and how many in other regions, which is why we need office space that will flexibly adapt to our needs,” the manager continues.

In his words, West Flexi Offices offers facilities that correspond to the level of elegance seen in the offices of the parent holding company, which is one of the pillars of the company’s culture. “West Flexi’s speed and support in providing offices for our growth was amazing and I don’t regret our decision to launch our business in the Czech Republic right here.”
